We started our honeymoon in San Diego, California. Sadly, we only stayed here for 4 days because we loved this amazing place in the USA. Of course we ate a lot during this time and fell in love with 4 restaurants we visited. Curious about our recommendations?

San Diego is not only heaven because it’s beautiful, has a amazing vibe, and has the most friendly people, but also because it’s a vegan heaven. In every single restaurant you are able to find vegan options. The people here are proving that veganism is for everyone and the food is even better. Very high standards, the best of the best, definitely!
And now time to share our recommendations…
Evolution Fast Food
Evolution Fast Food is the only drive-thru restaurant in San Diego that is offering a healthy, delicious, and vegan menu. They use fresh, local ingredients, and promote a healthy lifestyle. We fell in love with their burgers, especially the bacon cheeseburger with an artisan beef patty and the chicken tenders. It looks, feels and tastes like the real deal but better, like A LOT better, it’s amazing! It has more taste and the cheese is to die for. It doesn’t matter whether you are vegan, vegetarian or omnivore, you really have to taste it. It’s one of the things that should be on your bucket list. You can order it via the drive thru or inside and enjoy your meal at the cozy patio like we did. If we have to give it a mark, 10 out of 10, we are giving it a 20. The owner is very friendly, like the whole Evolution Fast Food team. It’s outstanding. I wish we had something like this in the Netherlands.

Donna Jean
Right next to Evolution Fast Food is a casual dining restaurant called Donna Jean. They have the most amazing vegan pizzas (we had the Destroyer). The best we ever had! Donna Jean’s goal is to start a conversation about what plant based cuisine can be and hopefully that will set the wheels in motion for a larger movement. They want Donna Jean to be an everyday restaurant. A place in the neighborhood that is inviting and feels like home every time someone walks through the door. And it does! The team is amazing, even the chef comes to your table to ask you if you like the dish. The waiters are a dream team. They are amazing at selling and making you feel at ease. That’s positive and a compliment! If we have to give it a mark, 10 out of 10, we are giving it a 25. It’s amazing, not cheap, but it exceeded our expectations. Loved it!

Flower Child
In Del Mar (our happy place where we are going to live and grow old together in the future, we hope) there’s a restaurant close by a yoga studio that serves the most amazing burritos. We had the Thai Dye and it was.. Mesmerizing! It is during this dish, I decided to maybe start a vegan food truck. It just gives you so much energy and positives vibes. Loved it! Flower Child is the only not vegan restaurant on this list, but has amazing vegan options. Definitely worth visiting. If we have to give it a mark, 10 out of 10, we are giving it a 25 for the dish and a 8 for the whole restaurant because it isn’t vegan yet.

The PurpleMint
The inside and interior of this restaurant is stunning! We had the Summer Rolls and a Buddah’s Delight. That last one (Buddah’s Delight) is magical! The best drink we have ever had in San Diego. The PurpleMint brings healthy eating and traditional culture to a crossroads. The bistro serves vegan dishes fused with classical recipes that present an unparalleled twist on authentic Asian cuisine. If we have to give it a mark, 10 out of 10, we are giving it a 25 for the drink and a 8 for the dish. It was great! Definitely a fine restaurant to dine and amazing to hang out.

This is only part one…
Soon I’ll share our favorite vegan restaurants in Los Angeles, California. And.. prepare, because there are a lot of amazing vegan places there. We still wish we had more time in San Diego, but it is definitely not the last time we are visiting our favorite place in Cali.
I hoped you enjoyed this article.
